People who know me well know my "internet name" of choice is 'possumgrape'. Lots of people have asked me to explain it, and upon hearing the story simply look at me strangely and say "oh ok!" My grandmother is an amazing cook, and she and my granddad have canned everything except the kitchen sink for as long as I have known. She is a genius with jellies- and my favorite is possumgrape jelly. As a child I would become frustrated with waiters who would bring me regular grape jelly when I asked for possumgrape jelly. I couldn't fathom why they wouldn't have it at restaurants.
Possumgrapes are wild grapes that grow in the heavenly area of southern Mississippi around the Natchez Trace (and parts of Texas too). For those of you that don't know, this area is very close to my heart, as it is where my mother's family is from and most still reside.
